UNITED IN HIS LOVE

What do the
Hell’s Angels, bees, ants, the
mafia, and gang members have in common? Their unity. Right or wrong,
and
sometimes more often wrong than right... they have decided to mutually
agree
upon some basic things, and that’s what gives them their unity.
They protect their unity. They conserve it. They fight for it. They
have their
rules. Anyone goes against them, and they’re out, or they’re dead, sad
to say.
The majority of Christians nowadays seem to have lost sight of that,
the need
for unity. Of all the people on the planet, surely Christians should
have that
concept and that principle above and beyond everything else in their
lives.
They should be more keenly aware of the need for unity, being that
God’s Word
says so much about it.
There is wisdom in unity. There is strength. The Bible says a lot about
unity.
God always seems to bless unity. God often times has even blessed unity
over
being right. Such are the dynamics of His Kingdom.
The Devil’s whole strategy,
his motto is divide and conquer. People nowadays can’t even get along
with a
mate it seems. Most people have difficulty getting along with just one
other human
being, how much more two or three or four. Yet people are starving for
it.
People are lonely, and people are starving for some kind of unity, some
sense
of oneness. Many misguidedly join up or affiliate with all kinds of
questionable organizations or activities, because of the brotherhood,
the
fraternity of unity that they find there.
Dogs seek unity. You’ll see street
dogs running around in a pack. The unity of the pack. Animals seek
unity.
Insects do too. Yet the average individual doesn’t seek it out. Why?
Because
unity requires a sacrifice. You have to sacrifice something personal.
You have
to give up something individual to be a part of a unified something
greater.
But a group of people truly unified especially in the love of God and
service
to Jesus is stronger than the strength of its individual components.
There’s
real power in unity. God’s Word says, “One can chase a thousand, but
two can
put ten thousand to flight.” So then unity doesn’t double your power
but it
quintuples it.
A group of three people, or four or more, united in a common
vision, a common goal is unstoppable. That’s why our spiritual enemy
attacks
unity. Divide and conquer is his slogan. That’s his policy. He believes
it. He
actively pursues that.
The price for unity is forsaking all. "He that forsaketh
not all that he hath, cannot be my disciple," Jesus said. It represents
personal
forsaking all, personal sacrifice. You give up all your own
preconceived
"everythings", for a greater "something". But you’re not really
losing anything, because what you have to gain is so vastly superior to
what
you’re giving up.
God's Word says to, “Strive to keep the unity of the spirit
in the bond of peace.”
Unity is everything. Everything depends on unity, unity
and harmony begins in the home. First it begins with your mate. Then
it’s
supposed to trickle down to those around you, your children, then your
coworkers your friends, your neighbors. It’s all about unity.
Unity is
synonymous with love, finding things in common, dwelling on the good,
instead
of the differences and finding fault. Jesus said to love one another.
It’s all
about unity.
