DON'T LIKE
THE GOVERNMENT?
SOH
Productions
Hi
everybody. You
know, the Bible says in Hebrews in the
last chapter, “Obey them that have the rule over you.” And throughout
the Bible
it talks about praying, praying for people, praying for situations.
Something that’s been on my
heart for some time now is how
it seems that many if not most Christians and churches nowadays are so
into
preaching a message against the government, are so into criticizing
those that
rule over us, no matter who’s in there, that I can’t help but feel
that, to
some degree at least, many have gotten off track.
Of course, as Christians we’re
supposed to have convictions.
No one’s gonna question that, but I think we have to be careful and
really
worry if we find that most of what we’re talking about, most of what
we’re preaching
is against anyone, or any group of people, or any government, or any
one
particular belief, or false belief, other than simply lifting up Jesus
and
trying to get the message of His love to the world.
To get rid of the darkness, to
get rid of ignorance, it
doesn’t work to try to beat it out. No matter how persuasive your
arguments are
there’s only one way of getting rid of the darkness, and that is to
simply turn
on the light.
The way we do that is by
exalting Jesus. Jesus said, “If I
be lifted up I will draw all men unto Me.” So let’s talk about Jesus.
Let’s
talk about the good things He’s done. Let’s talk about His miracle
working
power in our daily lives. Let’s focus more on glorifying Him.
Sure one can say that the
government’s screwed up, and how’s
it not gonna be, no matter who’s in there, because it’s composed of
people like
you and me that have our flaws and our weaknesses.
I think it’s rather
presumptuous for any of us to think that
we can judge anyone or any big entity, especially as big as the
government,
based on such limited knowledge as anyone of us in particular can have.
Sure there are many problems in
the world. I think it just
behooves us all though to make sure that we’ve got the right emphasis,
and not
be talking all the time, not have our whole focus, our whole ministry
on
criticizing any one or any organization, because ultimately the most
effective
way to change anything is through Him and with His love.
