BORICUA -
A
latino fairy tale…
Introduction
BORICUA is a romantic
comedy that
celebrates the unique Puerto Rican way of life.
Filmed on location in the
magnificent
natural beauty of Puerto Rico, BORICUA highlights places such as El
Faro de Cabo Rojo, La
Playuela, La Bahía de Boquerón y sus Manglares and the fishing village
of Puerto
Real. Some scenes are filmed also in the capital city of San Juan.
Many people see Puerto
Ricans in a negative light because of images from TV and movies that
depict
them as villains, drug
traffickers or gang members. We want to help change that as we take
them on a cinematic journey showing the happy Boricua outlook on life,
friendship, family,
food, fun and community.
Many movies filmed in
Puerto Rico
mislead the audience into believing that the natural wonders depicted
are
in a different country such as Mexico, Brazil etc. BORICUA makes it
clear that everything takes place right here in Puerto Rico.
There
are many Caribbean
island tourist destinations. And all basically offer the same
attractions and amenities. Documentaries showing Puerto Rico’s beaches,
mountains, and wildlife
have no doubt helped stimulate tourism.
But BORICUA showcases the country’s greatest natural resource: the
Puerto Ricans themselves!
BORICUA is based on true
stories of the time spent by the Britton Family in the western region
of Puerto Rico. The film targets North American and European audiences
in particular
and Latinos in general. Proceeds will go to charity work in Puerto
Rico.
BORICUA will appeal to a
very wide
audience and
its script can be easily adapted to align with the Puerto Rican Tourism
Company’s promotional needs and goals.
By showing the contrast
between the
so-called
modern world we are living in and the warmth of the Puerto Rican
people, along with their simple yet unique and often funny ways of
doing things, we
believe we can increase people's interest in visiting the
tropical
paradise island home of the BORICUAS!

WHAT PUERTO
RICANS
ARE SAYING…
After reading the
script.
Alodia
“It's amazing that you have been able to capture the Puerto Rican soul
so well, when
you've only been here a short time. It reminded me of Puerto
Rico in my childhood. I was so happy to realize that there are still
places
and people like that today.”
Gretchen R.
“I am on page 83, I can see the places, the smells, the
taste of food, the faces of people, its like it woke up my five senses
with
your
descriptions: love it!”
Bessie I.
“I picked it up and couldn't put it down until I finished it. I really
liked it that he got the girl in the end.”
Lizbet F.
“My favorite scene was the joke of the sardines. I really
laughed. I could imagine the stench of fish all over her. Also at the
beginning, when she steps in the dog's 'poop' and lost her
shoe. That was funny.”
Lily
“Me
sorprendí y me gusto como sutilmente da un hint del tema sobre vida
después de
la muerte y lo que Jack vio cuando estuvo allá arriba, (me fascinan
estos
temas).”
Rachel
“I finished reading the story, I love good and happy endings. It is an
awesome
movie and the message is great.”
“Scene 133 GIVES ME GOOSE
BUMPS!
Aaaaahh! Beautiful! You
know one message that the movie is indirectly sending is that we need
to connect to nature in order to have a full connection with God. After
all, nature is his Creation, his ideal home for humans, his Work of
Art.”
“WOW I am excited! This script made me feel different emotions, as if I
am inside the story... I laughed, I was worried, I hated Alex, and I
loved
Juan
and the new Susan. This movie is so about real life and I like it that
there are some funny scenes.”
“Los
felicito y les deseo muchisimo exito en el logro de su pelicula y
presentando al mundo lo hermoso de nuestra isla y de nuestra gente
buena.”
